Moms cradling baby on their right arms suffer depression risk: Study

Depression during pregnancy as well as child rearing days are worrying scientists for years, as such mental phases in moms effect their children in a big and serious way.Never mind, what is more important is the inception of such a mood. And, importantly, scientists have successfully discovered one such tool – a mom’s specific body language, i.e. the way a mother holds her baby reveals the secrets of her mental health!

In the past, scientists have found only that most parents cradle children on their left-hand side irrespective of their being right or left-handed. But, it is only recently, the finding linked a woman’s risk of depression with it.

Stating the findings’ better help in identifying mothers in a fragile mental state, lead researcher Dr Nadja Reissland, a senior lecturer in psychiatry at Durham University said,

We have all seen pictures of Princess Diana - she always cradled to the right. However it is a tendency - not an absolute and just because a woman cradles on the right it does not mean she is stressed.

This finding is significant to save many mothers from depression, who wither don’t realize they are suffering from stress or don’t want to admit they are.
